How to Short Fuel Pump?

Well i finally pruchased the CBR manual so I feel more confident about my bike,.....I have a feeling my fuel ump is bad (not pumping enough). I saw that the manual tells you to short the fuel pump relay, then it tells yout to look to page 18-5 to see what they are talking about. When I turn to that page they are talking about replacing headlights..WTF ....it doesnt explain how to do the short on the relay.........so I think it must be a misprint or something.....

Does anyone know how to do a "short of the fuel pump" THanks!

RE: How to Short Fuel Pump?

Disconnect the fuel cut off relay on the other side of the bike. There are 3 wires on the connector. Don't jump the Black/Blue wire. Jump the other 2. Put your ignition key on. The fuel pump should flow until you put the ignition back to off.

I might be wrong on the wire color, it explains it all in the service manual, look a little further, I think it's somewhere on page 18-15, 18-16...

RE: How to Short Fuel Pump?

Thanks alot ....the fuel pump was not working properly , so I began to take off the fuel pump etc, then I decided to try it again before I took it off and the fuel pump worked perfectly......so now im back to square one. The bike is running smoother now, though I dont think is running as smooth as it should but its pretty stable. The last thing I have to check is the volts of the battery while off and while on to see if its the rectifier. Im waiting for a friend to bring a volt meter

If the rectifier is bad, is it possible that the bike's idle would be a little rough?

I let the bike run for like 20 min and it didnt turn off.... however, im not going to venture outside my house cos Im not paying no more tow trucks!
