It's more appropriate here.

I'm thinking it could be a carburetion issue, but hard to say just based on what you've described so far. Can you provide a little more history on the bike ? Mileage, any mods or maintenance done recently ?

dash says 12,000 miles i dont know the history but the oil is clean, new plugs, the wireing is ok,and it has a short black muffler dont know who made it. has good compression, and it sounded good when we had it running.

OK, 12K miles is not that much. I'm thinking you're up North somewhere. The bike probably sits during the winter. Carbs could probably do with a good cleaning. Do you know what kind of Air Filter it has in it ? A fairly significant flat spot at around 6000 RPM is common with jet kits and K&N types of air filters. Take the air cleaner cover off and check it.

If you are not getting your hands dirty then yeah its a good price.
Sounds like it might just be the carbs being dirty. The new ethinol gas will cause all kinds of goofy **** on older carbs. A good cleaning should help out.
Good luck keep us posted.

ok the carbs are clean and back on the bike and got it running. but im still haveing the issue when you shift to third gear it bogs out and you have to put the clucth in and work the throttle to get it out of the bogging then when you finally get it to rev out its fine again until you hit third then it bogs out. what could it be?
