Default Help me fix an ugly F3!

Here's the skewp:

I've got an ugly 96 F3. It's the purple one. Every camera I use makes it turn out bluish, but trust me, it's PURPLE. I either have to tell people I'm a big Lakers fan, or admit that I paid money for a purple bike. On top of that, it's been dropped a few times, and the fairings are pretty scuffed up.

AS SUCH, I need to paint it. I have access to all of the equipment necessary for automotive painting, as well as an experienced Corvette painter to help, so I don't need much help on the technical side.

What I DO need help with, is what should I do about it? I was thinking a metallic blue or black with metal flecks in it? I dunno. What do you guys think?

Not a bad idea, but I'd have to replace them then, and that's like $600 for plain ones. What's your offer?

eBay fiberglass. Honestly, when it came down to it, I wouldn't do it. They're cheap, but they're junk. I'd end up spending the $900+ on "real" ones, so why not just keep the ones I have and repaint them.

I DO have a spare left fairnig if you're interested:

thats such a waste of a perfectly decent OE paint job. im not saying youll butcher them, but id maybe piece together a set of OE fairings from CL/Ebay then paint those? hell, i have a full set, but theyre for f2s, not later f3s. already primered black. i believe the only aftermarket parts of the set are the lower sides, but its not crappy and they actually line up. theyre ABS, not fiber.

I know, I'm really on the fence about it. The design IS nice, but I get picked on for the purple on a daily basis, and honestly, I wasn't to keen on it from the beginnnig. I got the bike for $2000 with only 9k miles on it in March, WITH the exhaust and jets, and in beautiful condition, so I couldn't pass up the deal.

I also don't want to spend $500+ on new fairings just to change the color of my bike, when I already have a perfectly good set right here.

Lol u think your bike is ugly? Did you see the pics of mine? The PO paid someone $300 to rattlecan it yellow, another $300 (I'm hoping part of that is the labor) for a purple chain and I don't wanna know what she paid for the purple windscreen. After I get a little more comfortable with mine, I'm going with metallic silver / black with the Honda decals in chrome.

Personal opinion if you are planning on painting this yourself: keep the current scheme while buying OE replacements a little bit at a time. When you have a full unpainted set, you now also have a spare practice set to skill up your painting skills.
