Default Head's up to F3 Owners

Just wanted to write my own review. I sold my F3 a week ago and purchased cbr 929 rr yesterday. The first time I test rode it, out of excitement I thought that the 929 was best thing that ever happened to me.
It is fuel injected, it has more horsepower and the handling is just perfect. To give it a test, the next day me and my buddy had three drag races.

Both of us are good racer's to some point. My buddy was on my new 929 and I was on his F3. The 929 has "Devil" slip on and +1/-1 sprocket combo. The F3 has "Yoshi" slip on and +5/-5 sprocket combo.

First Race: From dig: I was just like his shadow until 100 mph he started pulling on me.

Second Race: 60 mph roll: Pretty even until about 90 mph and then he took off. He was about 4 bike length ahead of me

Third Race: 60 mph roll: I kept up with him for the most part. If you saw the race, you can not say that he killed me, not at all. I was there, right by him. It was one of the biggest shock to him of what his bike was capable of.

Moral of the Story: There are several differences between a carburetor F3 and the fuel injected 600 and liter bikes. The carb only affects you when you in stop and go traffic, you will feel the hicups. When you are cruising at 40+ mph. The power delivery and throttle response of a carb bike is as smooth as a fuel injected bike. The handling on the F3 is little tougher than the 929; however, there are many things that can be done to the F3 to fix that issue.

To everyone who thinks that F3 is a beginner bike or slow bike? Thats definitely not true. The F3 has a great potential. If it can keep up with a almost liter bike?, it can do anything. With the right things done to it and with perfectly tuned carbs, it will treat you right!

Heads up to F3 guys out there. You guys have something to be proud of and whenever the thought of buying a earlier model bike comes in to your mind and only if you can not afford it then read this review of mine. I miss my baby!

Goodluck

Interesting that the drags were that close. My girlfriend has a 929 with +1 -1 combo sprockets and I by feel that thing seems so much more powerful than my F3. Then again, that is just the low end torque talking, we've never actually put them side by side and let 'em rip.

I will say that in comparison to her 929, I love the ease of slow speed handling on the F3, not to mention the awesome turning radius.

not disargreeing that the f3 is a sweet little piece of machinery, or that your specific test didn't play out like you state; but there is a pretty big difference between the performance of the 2. The below is straight from the sport rider performance data tables for honda.

motorcycle, quarter mile, 60-80mph time, 80-100mph time
CBR600F3 ('98), 11.32 @ 119.31, 5.44, 5.06
CBR929RR ('00), 10.31 @ 134.50, 3.37, 3.08

Our f3's should be obliterated by anything this modern/large displacement wise. The extra cc's just muscle the bigger bikes so much easier at higher speeds

for you guys in this thread i have a bone stock 98f3 w/extened swingarm. ive posted videos in the sites and sounds area of this fourm site, and the very first video is me racing a 2001 "i think" yamaha fjr1300 and i completly smoked the dude no problem. then as you scroll down ive posted a second video of me draging my beast3 some more and in the second vid the very first bike im against is a cbr929. straight of the line i eat him up but at the big end of the track he starts to catch me. luckly enough i got him by a fender ill give the dude full credit he can ride like a basterd and his bike is faster than hell but my little f3 held its oun and did its job against the liter bikes and a few 600s. so in my conclution the 1998 honda cbrf3 is by far my all time fav bike it can and will do anything. i will have more video for you guys to see of my "dragfighter" i call it comment tell me what you think thanks happy riding.
