I was forced to buy 15 feet of heat wrap for the new fairings I just bought. I was wondering if anyone has insulated their airbox, I know its mostly seen on race bikes but if anyone has ever done it and has any opinions Id like to hear them.

The only other use for this insulation is wrapping my water heater, but what fun is that?

Here it is, no bashing the repsol job. Would have liked to keep it semi authentic but a f4i/600rr smokin joes but doesnt exist.

 

no bashing here, man. that job looks pretty clean. as far as insulating your air box, all i can say is, if you are doing it on the inside which i dont think you are, i would be concerned about air disturbances. if you are doing it to the outside, it definitely couldnt hurt. but, if it does the job that you want it to do and cools the air coming in, you may have to play with the jetting because you may lean out the bike a little. but, hell, have at it. it be interested to see what the temp difference is, if you could get an IR thermometer in somewhere and take a reading...
