Cool Gear selector rod

Hiya everyone, let’s start by say the bike has been run very well , no more cutting out when hot , no more smoke , so I thought I would take for a nice run half hour in and I noticed that I could not change down to first, and it was hard to find more gears , pull over turned engine off , I noticed that the gear selector rod witch goes into the engine was sloppy but I can find all the gears and neutral with difficulty, no oil is leaking out tho! Can I get to the gear selector by just taking the clutch basket off ! Or does the engine need to come out to be split! Any help would be appreciated please please!

I’ve read the manual and I can’t see how I can to remove the needle bearing! ( with engine in the bike). Would I need a special tool , ( gear selector needle bearing and seal ) I ll take side caseing off tomorrow with the clutch basket I do have holding tool , and hopefully something has popped off? I’ll make sure I’ve got all gears before I start even tho the rod ( selector) is really sloppy fingers crossed, anyone got any tips ! Much appreciated

Bike all back together after changing gear selector rod and seal, and new clutch plates ! And now the gears and clutch fills lovely, I done about 10 miles just to make sure everything was good now all I’ve got to do is dress the bike back up ( put fairings back on ). And take it for a longer run , so happy that the gear box was ok ! Ps. If anyone is going to fit new plates what I did was sand down the very small groves on the centre hub so you don’t get any drag on the clutch discs , ( did not need clutch tool just sit on bike put in top gear hold front brake with left hand foot on brake and undone nut , Easy ).

Was not as hard as it sounds , LOL. Took the bike today for a 80 mile round trip , gears are lovely and smooth , all I found was a tiny oil leak from side caseing so very happy , all I havt to do is sort that !
