F4i fairing conversion

F4i fairing conversion
I just bought a 98' F3 project bike with no fairings. I am planning to put the F4i upper and lower fairings on it. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how easy it is to get them to fit. Also, I presume I need the upper fairing bracket from the F4i as well. Or can the F3 piece be modified? I am planning on keeping the F3 gauges for the moment at least, or will I have problems fitting them with the F4i upper? If anyone who has done this can give any advise on the subject please share your knowledge. I searched and didn't find much. DementedF3, care to give us a bit of a writeup?

RE: F4i fairing conversion
well, I found a helpful thread on the f4i conversion at cbrworld.net. Here's the link for all who are interested.

And here's is his photo gallery with some great pictures to give you a good idea of what is involved. He did the f4 tail as well.

RE: F4i fairing conversion
well although i don't want to see 30 more F3's like mine, I will say i used the same info you found to do mine. You really just need to get the parts and assemble stuff on your bike and see how it fits, where things need cut and how the stay works out. I used the F4i stay as i did the guages and all. If i get time later i will get some pics up of my process. But as in any fabrication work there are many ways of going about it and mine might not have been the best, but i did it in a few days LOL. I did change a couple things from what i got off that link you posted. I made my stay bracket 1.5" lower to lower my fairings as i didn't like how they looked in the front.
instead of posting my pics here, feel free to look em over on my photobucket,, http://s21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ented5oh/bike/

RE: F4i fairing conversion
the whole F4i front basicly fell into place. I had to cut some around the clutch cover and by the rearset. only issues i ran into were, some of the wiring and the radiator hose had to be moved to get the fairing to fit closer to the bike. I ended up rerouting alot of the wiring. Also i had to find a place for my horn and some wiring to get the headlights functioning properly
