Question f3 tach and mileage

I just got a 95 cbr f3, everything works good except the tach works, sometimes it doesn't, and the mileage and trip mileage doesn't work, but from time to time I look down and it flipped a little bit. Any answers to the problem?

Same here, my tach will slam all of the way to the high peg and stay there. After a while it will kind of "float" down and then settle for a while and then back to the peg.

I tore the whole front down and cleaned the connectors to the guages, checked the rectifier and ICM connectors as well, no joy.

Speedo and everything else works fine. Sigh, been thinking about the F4i mod, maybe it's time.

Where does the tach get it's signal from? Is there a way to test it?

The ECM, it comes direct from it.... Only way I know of to test it is to use a universal tach that you buy at an auto parts store and see if it does same thing. If you buy a 3 inch one and it works you could take out the factory one and with some fab work get the aftermarket one to fit in the same spot..

Worth a try, the dealership says $75/hour till they figure it out, probably 2 hours minimum. I can replace everything that's potentially wrong and still be ahead at that rate. Appreciate the quick response. The tach ain't a life-crisis, but it does chafe my buns.

yeah and a cheap aftermarket car tach can be bought for 30 to 40 bucks, even cheaper if you find a buddy with one for sale...

I have the same problem, I took off the gaunge and disassemblied speedometer and tachometer. I found a service manual, it says measure the peak voltage that comes to the tachometer, if its under 10.5V, change ICM, if its over 10.5V, change the tachometer.

So where i can find these parts? I couldnt find ICM. Im gonna check the values tomorrow and buy one of those.
