Awesome, you guys are a tremendous help. Okay, so I know it's off in the range of the mixture screws. As far as jetting, is there a telltale sign if it's lean up past 7k? After I get it around 5k, everything seems fine (maybe a little flat before 6.5, but I believe 6.5 is about where the powerband is).

The only problem I've noticed is the bouncing idle (between 1,200 and 900), and the hesitation in the low end.

Hunter-

Did you change anything else when you did the clean/sync? I don't know why that would happen. Did you do the clean yourself? If so, is there any chance the jets got mixed up? (I don't know if that would affect top speed, other members will have to help with that).

Any new mods?

There's a washer under the needle- if someone forgot to put it back in when reassembling the carbs, it might be positioned too low making the bike leaner at higher speeds.

These are just me theorizing, I'm by no means the most knowledgable- I just read too much out of a compulsive need to tinker with what i own.

The way you check you main jets is find a long straight road with little traffic and open it up. It should pull smoothly and conistently from 6k to 12k or wherever your comfortable opening your engine up to. If it pulls hard and smooth your all set. If it bogs down and gets soggy at any point, even it it pulls through it, your rich. If it stumbles and feels like it lost power at any point then your lean.
You can also do this on the dyno to tune it perfectly but a long stretch of road works well too and is free, well unless you get a ticket lol.

Sounds like your running lean. To get help with your problem I suggest you open a new thread to ask your question rather than posting in the middle of someone else's. You'll likely get more responses to your problem.

Did a test pulling through the whole range of RPMs, pulls smooth 6k-12k. Seems the only problem is at the low end. D-tool is on the way to adjust the pilot screws.

Once I get this cleared up, I'm headed on a 400-some mile trip upstate, and will look into a stage 1 kit when I get home.

Thanks everyone for your help!

run your bike through the configurator at carbjetkitsdotcom.

it'll give ya two 145's , two 150's - two shims per needle and 42 pilots !

oh wow Im bookmarking this page, when I bought my bike it already had a two bros exhaust on it and the idle is very bouncy, but the power is smooth.
also when I start it up I have to turn the idle all the way up to keep it running and then lower it when it warms up.
