Hi can i use shell T6 on my bike im in the uk
and my bike cbr 600fw 1998
I know it 10/40 in the book

 

I did quite a bit of research in this area. I ended up going with Rotella T6 full synthetic 5-40. So far I have had no problems with this oil. I think that the best thing you can do for your engine, though, is to change the oil often. The oil is servicing the clutch, transmission and engines that turn up to 13k. That is asking alot of an oil. I change every three months or 3k miles at least. I also do track days, and think that it is good insurance to change filter and oil more often if you are doing track days. Maybe it is overkill; but I think the price of an oil change is worth it considering how much engine damage would cost.

I stick with the OEM honda stuff. So far so good.

But is this just as good Shell Advance Ultra 10w/40 4T Fully Synthetic

 

That'll do. In fact pretty much anything 10W/40 Semi upwards will do if you follow the change intervals. If you want to leave it in a long time or spend a lot of time at high revs on the track a full synth might be better.
