Don't think it's such a go idea since 4 cycle don't cost any different from car oil...car oil has it's purpose which separately from the transmission...motorcycle is wet clutch which share the same engine oil... There is reason why OEM calls for certain oil...
Best to follow your manuals spec...beside that, name brand is controversial...
I wouldn't use paper towel as toilet paper...though you can, but something might not feel right? LOL...

I've done my research and talked to a few lifelong mechanics about price/quality for oil.
I use Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic (blue bottle) walmart for 21.00 (1.00 sticker on the side).
That is by far the best oil ive ever used in terms of longevity, price, and performance.
Avoid any energy saving oils.
Filters are a different story.
I favor Hi-Flow or Honda OEM, however they are hard to get them down here at a good price, or faster than 10 days shipping.
I've used Fram at walmart, however the paper filter scares me, so I change both the filter and oil every 3 months.
My bike has nearly 60,000 miles now.
Still going strong.
I've noticed that occasionally with fresh oil, my clutch slips for a fraction of a second when i first make the change to second gear, but its gone after 1 good ride.

Rotella T6. The reason why is because it's one of the few modern oils that work well in my ancient 73 cb750 and 75 cb550. When I first got my 550 road worthy again I was using regular motor oil and the clutch slipped like crazy even though it was properly adjusted and in excellent shape. I can't say how it relates to newer bikes in fact it might not be an issue with later cbr's but early 70's era bikes with wet clutches can't deal with all the friction modifiers that modern motor oils have at least my old Honda's can't. I prefer synthetics but that's an argument that I'm in no mood to debate however the advice I can give you that I will stand by is that regardless of what brand or type of oil you choose, do yourself and your bike a favor and change the oil and filter on a scheduled basis.
