f3 for $2K
hei guys! im new to this forum (to the whole sportbike scene, in fact) and im looking for my first bike. i found a 1996 cbr f3 with 15,000 mi for $2000. owner says there are a few scratches on the lower plastics. guys, is this a good deal? it is not the smokin joe replica and the bike is completely stock. so what do you guys think? thanks in advance everyone and happy thanksgiving!
make sure u check thats the gas tank isnt rusted on the inside, i failed to do so and now have to replace mine. thats all i could think of off the top of my head............. its been a long thanksgiving....
2 gs sounds good for a bike like that . check the rims also make sure the lips have no bends or bad dents . check the fluid reservoirs to make sure they have fluid in them . u will be suprised how many ppl who neglect there bikes try to sell them with little to no fluids, in the brakes an coolant reservoirs. but at 2 gs it wont be perfect all over . if this is your first bike most likely you will put atleast another grand into parts and gear
One thing that would be a good idea.
Since it's your first bike, take someone who has some experience and that you TRUST with you. Explain to them you're not looking for a perfect bike, you just want to make sure the mechanics and frame are straight.
I say trust because you're probably gonna have to give the seller your $ while the buddy takes it for a spin. If he's an idiot on it and lays it over - you just bought yourself a bike, whether it's a good bike or not.
When you get it - post up some pics. I love the F3's!
