Care to explain?
So, who wants the job of explaining to me what the difference is between the "RR" models, and their "F-Series" counterparts is?
Not for each specific year, but rather, the engine differences (tuning), body differences, wheels/tires, etc. My buddy is dying to get an RR, but I can't figure out why he wants to pay the extra $, plus more insurance $.
Just doesn't seem worth it unless you're really just wanting top of the line stuff and you are buying brand new (unless you get a killer deal of course). Plus, he's buying used - gimmie some ammo to convince him to save his $ for mods or whatnot.
Thanks!

well i want a RR also, i have my F3 which i love but if you ever drive a RR you will know why he wants one. I like how feels when you sit on them. It is 350-360 pounds (dry weight) and F3 is 410, the RR is alot better balanced so it feels extremely light and has around 115 or so HP stock and the F3 has 100, acturally this summer im goin to get a CBR RR i have seen some around here with 6-8k miles go for around 3,500 oh ya the with the RR you can save little more on gas it is fuel injected
The first big thing you will notice is riding position. The RR is a lot more aggressive and if you don't support yourself right... you'll hate it.
The other thing most people like about the RR is the split seat. Stock 600RR have about 100 to 104HP according to actual dyno readings and not what you read in print. With all of my mods, I'm up to just under 110hp. The weight thing CBR600F3ROX said is right on the money... It may only be 50 pounds or so, but you notice it. I worked on Jared05's 98 F3 last weekend and tried to do a kick stand pivot. I can do the pivot, but have to work for it. On my RR, I just lean over the bike, grab the rear passenger peg and spin the bike all day. Not that this is big deal... but it's just to show you how they balance the weight.
I don't think you'll see much savings at the gas pump either. What's the MPG you guys are seeing? I will have between 25 and 50 depending on how you ride. If I start out with a full tank and do a trip non-stop... 50 or close to it. But if I ride hard in the backroads around me... closer to 25. You have to remember the RR has 8 fuel injectors. 2 per cylinder. The first set of 4 run all the time and when you're up above 8k RPMs... the second set kick in.
I may ride with Jared05 this weekend and I'll ask him to trade off bikes for a test ride. Then I'll tell him to post up his opinions.

thanks for the correction doncollins the HP thing is what i red on some site, but the gas i would think you might save a little i just know fuel intejection you dont waste as much gas, pointman ya i knew a guy that lives around here that sold his RR for 3200 it was a 2003 yellow never been laid over 8k miles he didnt have it for long but i test drove it i liked it if i had the money i would of bought it, nice bike. and i have found 2 other deals really simular to that a 04 with around 14k miles 3600 and another 03 with around 11k 3400 i mean ya i know that cheap i dont see them very much well just though 3 that cheap all the reast are at least 4k and up
Didn't mean to seem like I was correcting you. I've read the same hype, but when you see them on a dyno and talk to the guys that run the dynos.. you tend to always use advertising math. Take 10% off the numbers they spit out at you until you read or see the facts and you eliminate disappointment.
I think the only benefit we get, not considering the power or performance side of thing... we have cleaner, less tree killing bikes with FI. They still drink fuel when you roll back on the throttle.
I'd like to find one of those RRs for around 3 grand... that would be tempting.

no i didnt mean it as a bad thing im glad you did b.c i didnt know that. I noticed that kidcr3nshaw said the insurance is higher for the RR, if so why is it, it is the same bike just newer, dosent really matter though my parent pay for mine im 16 and they get it cheap anyways b.c there both 45 lol
Insurance on a newer bike is higher when you have full coverage, for obvious reasons... it's worth more on paper and the can charge you more money. As for it being higher on an F4i or the RR of the same year, it's not for me. My insurance company charges me the same for any size cc. So because they are 599cc... they would bill me the same.
