Post Exhaust Backfire?

ok so my bike seems to be backfiring when I decelerate. It seems fine when I'm accelerating but as soon as i let off the gas, there are small pops backfiring. I'm thinking it might be time to clean the carbs this winter. I just bought some sea foam and Im gonna see how that does. but id like some insight on my situation though

Mine was doing that and also shot some flames if it was a high rev shift. I pulled all the California emissions stuff off, and I also leaned the bike out a bit by dropping my needle position by a 1/2 clip (really only in the upper RPM range).. It solved it 100%. I made a quick Diagram on the removal with some photos I could PM anyone that wants it.

If it doesn't have the California emissions I would look for an exhaust leak or an overly rich condition.

Its not a big deal especially if you have a aftermarket pipe. Its just fuel being burnt in the exhaust. I love it when I get my bike to back fire, I get a super deep pop, almost like a gunshot.

ya it happened to mine the other day. piped (d&d) and jetted. My buddy and i trade bikes some times and it happened after a fly by. i think its normal under stressfull situations and high rpms, happens on the atv sometimes too.

My bike does the same thing. I've got a Yoshi slip on and a K&N air filter with the carbs jetted. I read somewhere that if you have backfiring that the jets are too big and to back them down a size until it goes away. I just haven't really felt like screwing with them and readjusting everything. Plus everything works great when I'm accelerating or cruising at a constant speed.
