Electronics gurus needed - wiring loom
okay so some may know my road bike is becoming a track monster
ive gone to my haynes book and looked at the wiring loom and im sure it was much simpler last time i looked lol.
anyways anybody know if i rip the bulb lights out as one of the earths goes to the ICU will the engine turn on?
i would do a test with the engine on and disconnect but one is in a friends bike and the other engine is up near newcastle till sunday
anybody know how to make stripping the loom down to bare essentials easier?
running total loss system and a L-ion battery.

I just did this on one of my race bikes. The best thing to do is remove the items you do not need (ie lights, side stand switch, etc.) You will need to use the schematic. You can remove a lot of the wiring. I recommend removing all of the tape, and covering while you do this. There are a lot of ground wires that will be removed for the removed items. They are simply crimped in a lot of places. Remove all crimps. I recommend soldering all the connections and using heat shrink tubing. Be sure to take notes in reference to the wiring colors as you go. I usually run a wire for the neutral light and oil pressure light to the front to install LED's beside the tach. When you are done be sure to tape it back up and use wire loom if you can. Good luck.
thanks guys i guess i will have to re-install my engine and keep checking it turns on with each disconnected wire i am unsure of to cover my back and solve long hours of electronics testing. All wires will be soldered and what not, and i was just going to leave the neutral and pressure light out like most racers i see do but i like that idea of using LED's so im going to pinch that
thank you.
thank you.
Remember to put resistors in front of the LEDs if you`re using those standard 5mm superbright 3v leds, or they go BLAM when you first turn the key.
I have installed my ECU and fuel relay in the battery box along with a lightweight battery. There is plenty of room and it protects it in case of a crash.
