Default Electrical/Alternator issue diagnosis

Here's the dilema

Had a hard weekend I was pushing 100+ in the fast lane and think I pushed the damn thing to hard. I was on a 150 mile trip and she lost all power and I figured it was the alternator because I didnt get any vital lights.Had to get her towed away. After I did the alternatorwiring and rectifier check I didnt get any negative results,soI just replaced the altenator, but when I recharged the battery and replaced the alternator and removed the negative terminal the bike didnt cutofff it just acted as if it was loosing some power. If I remove the negative power terminal to test my alternator, what should be my outcome to determine the health of my alternator? i was told the bike should completely loose power and cutoff, but my bike acted like it wanted to and the lights on the dash dwindled but it stayed running not as strong as before, but still running. What do you guys think? Hope to hear from you guys soon.ttyl Jayce

Default RE: Electrical/Alternator issue diagnosis

check the resistances between the yellow wires...they should be around .1-1 ohm..or close to 1ohm and it should be allright. Heres the trouble shooter i used:

Your battery just might be crappy also. what brand is it and how old is it? Was it taken out of the bike over winter?
