does anyone know what this is

i just bought a 97 f3 and under the seat theres this little black box with hornet wrote on it. theres also a lil mercury switch near it. any ideas would be helpful

sounds like an alarm...hornet is made by dei who produces viper...popular car alarm

i'd bet money on the alarm.
the mercury switch is a tilt sensor
