Chec out my front rim
Hello All !
Here are a few pics of my front rim, please note: I just bought this bike, its a 1995 CBR 600 F3... The guy i bought the bike from said he took it to a local shop and had a new tire put on it, he said that the "bump out" i have pictured is ok, and as long as it holds its bead it will be fine.. however the words " as long as it holds its bead" concern me, I dont want to be a test dummy...take a look at the pictures and let me know your thoughts please.
He said he has had the bike a year and hasnt had any problems with the front tire holding air pressure etc, also it may be worthy to mention the bike has NO noticible wobble or any vibrations other than what a normal bike has already, honestly Im a bit concerned, but im no pro.. again, please let me know your thoughts...
Thanks !

RE: Chec out my front rim
Actually the reply...
"It could hold, but why risk it?
Just ebay a new rim, the cost of a rim is far less than the cost of a new bike, or your life! "
is exactly what I have been doing which brings me to my next question...
What will fit my bike? its a 17" rim , Ive read that other year bike parts can fit it, for example ive read a 1995-1998 rim may work, any links to web sites that may confirm or deny a SAFE swapout parts menu would be greatly appreciated or any insightfull comentary is allways appreciated.
Thanks !

RE: Chec out my front rim
I would definatly not risk that on a bike. A tire blowing out on a bike can lead to a very nasty outcome. On a car, yea what the hell, risk it. But on a motorcycle, where all you got is 2 wheels...hell NO!!
I wouldnt move that bike on its own power at all with that wheel as is. Get a new one.
Just my .02

RE: Chec out my front rim
Sorry I can't point you to the right web sight that confirms this but I have purchased several front rims lately (Damn pot holes in DC are taking a toll). I have bought three 95 to 98 five spoke rims and haven't had problem. Watch out for the 99 RR front rim, it won't work. You'll get ebay listingsclaiming they do workand they don't!! It's a 16" rim but that's not why the 900 RR rim doesn't work.
