call your local bike shop and ask anyone if they know where to get race take offs. Race take offs are race tires that people only use for a few laps on the track then replace them for maximum high speed grip. They are usually in pretty good shape and will last you a while on the street. You can sometimes get a set for a hundred or so. Also try craigslist too. Just make sure to let them warm up on the street before you go carving into turns or hammering the throttle. Shinko also makes cheap tires but they arent the best around, although a top choice for drag racers because of the price

I ran on a plugged tire for a while. It'll get you buy. No high speeds.

just dismount and use a plug/patch to fix it then you have at least 2 safegaurds in place, should be fine

I've heard bad things about shinko's. Check ebay/craigslist for people selling one or 2 tires.
