Default CBR600F 1996 Model (Starting Problems)

New to riding, just passed my test and bought a CBR600F, been out on the bike half a dozen times and now I am having some problems.

Tried to start the bike about a week a ago and the bike did not seem to have enough life in the battery to start up. I thought the battery just needed charging so invested in a charger, put the charged battery back on and everything seemed fine.

I came to the bike the other day and the problem seemed to have re-apeared, the bike would not start andI drainedthe batteryagain by keeping on trying to start it. Put the battery back on charge thinking that would solve the problem but this time the bike would not start even with the charged batteryand also after persevering too long,I heardwhat sounded like a gun shot come from the exhaust.

Don't have a clue what to try and would appreciate any thoughts as the sunshine is coming andI cant wait to get back out on the bike.

Search for rectifier issues. It helps the alternatorto create enough power to run all the electronics. If it fails the ignition can't get enough power and the bike can bog down under power, or the battery won't stay charged, etc. Good luck.

i was having about the same problem no more than a week ago. The bike had 89 octane and needed a min 91. I draind my battery like 4-5 times it would almost start then backfire. Drained the tank put in 93 and fired up but was ruff. Changed the fouled plugs from the low octane and shutting it off b4 it was warm. New gas new plugs and running like a champ.

I have seen the Regulator/ Rectifier mentioned a few times with regards to the CBR600F.

Are these easy to test and whats the usual cost involved with replacing these.

Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. The idle **** located by the fuel ****, turn the idle **** all the way open, twisting it counter clockwise and try to start it. Once is do start, turn the idle **** clockwise to set the idle at 1200 RPMs
