Default cbr 600 tires

I was looking throug threads before posting this but couldn't find anything relative. Sorry if this is a repost...

I've had my 1995 CBR600F3 for almost a yr. Have swapped both tires already. They are both now dunlop q2. The back has 1300 miles on it and the front has only 400 miles on it. The back looks shot. I read online that tires should last 8000+ miles?? Is that crazy talk or am I just getting **** tires. I did kind of go for cost on my first set. I really only do street riding (highway and local) in jersey... any recommendations based on experience would be nice. Looking for good wear, long lasting tires with good lean and the Q2s ain't it.

1300 miles and you've shredded a q2??? What kind of riding you doing? Jersey roads ain't that bad.

Got a pic of it? Or why do you think its shot?

If you want something that will last a while. I would go sport touring tires imo.

at work now, ill take a pic if I can when I get home... just looks like its worn pretty quick and theres small slits (almost holes) not too deep but noticable. I do no burnouts, no stoppies, no hard leans... recently, I tend to run it over 9000 rpms before switching on the highway and have been running around 100mph. nothing too crazy...

I run q2's aswell. Mine have done about 5000m they have a few of the tiny slits you talk about but I've had no grip issues. I tend to ride hard and in all weather, but no stoppies or burnouts.

Some track schools are using the Q2 exclusively w/ excellent results. If you're only getting 1300 mi out of Q2's on street riding, you're doing something wrong. Whether that's improper pressures, tire abuse, etc, there's something missing from this story.

Well I could just be over reacting... no grip issues. I always try to keep em at max psi. 36 in front 42 in the back. Add 2or3 psi every 5 or 6 rides for grip

As necessary I mean... I never overinflate my tires and check every few rides for pressure. Check every ride for damge. Nothing serious just looks worn to me... this is my first bike so I could be way off. Just lookin out for safety, you know.

If you are looking for a great sport touring tire, I heard great things about these dunlop's . Cycle Gear - DUNLOP: Roadsmart Street Motorcycle Tires, REAR 160/60ZR-17

Im actually going to buy these ones this week. From all the reviews Ive read , this one is the best quality for the amount of money you spend. I was originally gonna go with the Shinko's Raven 009 tire, but after long thought and reading tons of reviews, its worth spending the extra cash and getting the dunlops.
