Bumpy ride??

Bumpy ride??
Whenever you guys hit a bump while riding do you bounce up? If no, how would I adjust my suspension so I won't feel any bumps? I really don't want to mess with the suspension because I'm already use to the way the bike handles but on HWY rides it sucks after awhile when you bounce up and down every 5 secs.

what shock are you using? how is it adjusted?
when's the last time it's been rebuilt?
is it leaking?
and yes. on highways that are built like crap you will bounce.
it happens.

some shocks are different.
some get old and stop working correctly.
some need to be adjusted.
some are better than others.
you are also comparing 2 different bike (of different years?) being ridden by different people, with different riding experiences.

Adjust the flat screw on top of the forks. That adjusts how fast the forks go back to normal ride height. The stock setting is 7 clicks out from full in for 95-96. After 96 its 1 turn out from full in. There should be a label there that has arrows for h=hard s=soft. From your what your describing, your front end is set to soft. If you turn it in the h direction. That will cause it to slow how fast it returns to normal height. Which in turn limit the pogo action.

I dont think ive ever seen a CBR rather F3 or my buddys 900rr that was smooth with no bounce lol. Mine rides pretty stiff but takes corners on rails.
I can tell you though to make the rear a little softer there is a small slotted screw on the rear shock. I had to turn mine up (harder) for my wieght because the previous owner had it set for him.
It made a world of difference. Mine went from mushy smooth to stiff and tight and my handling got alot better.
Try turning your a bit to the softer side it should help. Only do like 1/4 turn each time. Good luck

My bike is an 97 with 30k miles on it, the suspension is pretty stiff. I'm guessing it's the stock rear shock, don't see no aftermarket name brand on it or any name brand. I was comparing the f3 with a gs500 suspension, guess you can't really compare the 2. Was wondering if its suppose to ride like that, all bumpy and whatnot. I don't want to mess with it if everyone elses f3 or cbr is like that.

Just soften the suspention mate, dont see what the problem is there.
You can soften out the forks by just turning a small adjuster in the middle of the forks counterclockwise.
For the rear - you can do same, there are 2 adjustments for the shock:
1. Compression
2. Rebound
I'd say to make it softer turn adjuster at the bottom of the shock and adjuster on the gas cilinder counterclockwise a tad and then go ride to see.
The only thing with a soft ride is: the bike will handle like a bag of cats.
