Bogging down
Recently got a new stator and regulator. It starts and runs, but...
When it is running it won't idle. The rpm's just drop and it stalls. I have to choke it to get it to refire. It seems to run well in the 4000K + rpm range, but anything less and it bogs when given gas. Is it a carb issue?[/align]

checked the gas lines and everything seems good. took it for a spin and it almost sounds like it is a twin until you hit the gas... 2-4 second delay... then bang. it sounds right and has the power. is it out of sync? need a carb tune?
Has the bike been sitting for a while? If the bike doesnt idle well, but works good after 4k, then id assume is the pilot circuit of the carbs. it would be a good idea to open up the float bowls, unscrew the pilot jets as well as the mixture screws and give that circuit a good cleaning. I had the same problem till last night and this is what i did to fix it. You should be able to see right through the pilot screws.
Have you tried simply adjusting the idle to see if that will help? Also, a carb sync wouldnt hurt.

It is running better today. I'll try to force a little air throught the top side sometime. The last person to clean the carbs didn't put back the idle adjustment screw (damn!), so until I take them off again I don't have that control. It is definitely idling too low (700 RPM, should be 1000-1500). Friend/mechanic rode it today and said it seem to be in sync, so it must be the jetting, etc. I'll let you know if I find anything else, but thanks for the suggestions.
