I just picked up a 95 cbr 600 f3 and it has been bogging since I bought it. It will only run on full choke, if you give it any gas it stalls. I just checked the carbs and they were clean. It is jetted has a UNI filter and slip on can. Any ideas of what the problem is? I thinking maybe the spark plugs but any other possibilities?

 

try some seafoam gas additive. if that doesnt do the trick your gonna need to clean them carbs!

 

I did clean the carbs and even replaced the pilot screws. I'm putting in some plugs today and ill let you know if it helps. Other than that I was thinking maybe plugged fuel filter? Or fuel pump?

 

yeah your fuel pump could be working at some rpms and not others

 

So I tried the plugs last night and its no better. I also tried bypassing the fuel filter, still no better. I held my hand on the fuel pump and it had a solid click every 5 seconds or so. Is this normal? Is there any tests I can do like a volume test or something? And I also still need to send it out to get the carbs synced and balnced. Could that be the fault? Thanks again.

 

Sounds to me like the pain in the *** fuel pump. Try setting up a temporary gravity feed system with a funnel running straight to the hose to the carbs. Bypass the pump and the filter.

You could bypass the pump for now if you want to know for sure before you move onto the carbs, but honestly if you just bought the bike the first thing I would do is clean and check jetting on the carbs. They are the first thing to be neglected in these bikes.

 

So I tried to by-pass the fuel pump with no luck. I also did a compession test and got about 118 psi on all 4 pistons. Any other ideas? I think i'm going to take of the valve cover and see if I can find anything.

 

when you cleaned the cars and took the jets out did u screw them back in the right amount of turns?

idkj if you tried seafoam yet but you would be damn surprised how well that stuff works. I had the same problems you were having multiple times last summer. Its definately a fuel issue.

You need to try the seafoam let it sit for an hour or two, shake it around, then start it up full choke let it run for a bit and then see whats good.

if thats not good take ur fuel pump apart and check the contacts. and if those are fine then you should clean the carbs again. i know its annoying because youve already checked everything but you must have missed something somewhere
