Yeah, NEVER split the carbs if you don't have to, which you usually don't. All parts cleanable are right there in the bowls and up top if it's something that got past the air filter. You will just end up with a lot more work and more chance of something going wrong by splitting them if you don't have to.

 

Well I had time this morning to take the fuel pump off and apart. The contacts definitely look like they could be the problem. It was really hard to take a picture of those little contacts but I did my best. Take a look
