Default Bike sat for 6 months now won't start

Hi i'm hoping someone can help me. My bike was working fine until I tried starting it today after 6 months unused. I've replaced the battery as that was dead, I've syphoned the old fuel out and put in new with some carb cleaner and i've also checked the spark plugs which are clean and spark fine. It sounds like it wants to start and very nearly bump starts but doesn't Also checked all fuses these are fine too.

Any ideas what it could be and/or what to try next?

Many thanks in advance.

Petcock to on/reserve?

Does it crank and backfire?

Hi, petcock is on, Full choke and it does crank and occasionally backfires. It's frustrating it sounds so close to starting especially when I bump it.

If the fuel has been just sitting in the carbs it could have gone bad and turned to gel and clogged the carbs. You might just need a good carb cleaning.

It all depends on how mechanical you are. I've done a couple of things with cars and a little with dirtbikes, but never had worked on a motorcycle. I cleaned the carbs on my brother's 600f2 no problem, and I actually used this link https://cbrforum.com/m_311016/tm.htm to another thread to clean them

Check the fuel pump first.

Make sure the pump is sending fuel to the carbs before you pull those puppies out.

Fuel pumps die with out notice and it sounds like your has kicked the bucket!

Cleaned the carbs and had to jump it from my car as I killed my brand new battery trying to start it so many times! But now it's running sweet. Thank you so much all for your help
I'm very grateful
