Default bike has no power PLEASE HELP

Update:
I took the carbs off, checked the bowls all is well. Checked my fuel pump it is good, along with the air filter. Fuel filter is also good. I checked the spark plugs, look good. Checked the ignition timing it appears fine. At idle (~1500 RPM) its about 4 degrees advanced, and as the RPM's go up the timing marks rotate Counter Clockwise. Checked the cam timing, it is spot on. Checked the TPS, it is swinging from 1 Volt to 5 Volts. I don't know what else to check. It will run idle to redline but it revs SLOW. It doesn't pull hard like it used to. I only had it apart 2 days and have been troubleshooting since. I'm hoping I've overlooked something, Please Help!!

Thanks,
Ryan

Hey guys,

I just go done rebuilding my trans due to the popping out of 2nd problem. I dropped the engine out, never seperated the top end. Just removed the bottom end leaving the top end together. Kept the crank with the top side to make things easier. Everything went well until I restarted it today. It seems to rev slow (if that makes sense). Or to put it another way the throttle response is crap and it won't pull past 6K. It will free rev further (I didnt go past 10K) but when I try to ride it it's slow as dog ****.

Anyone have any ideas? Air filter is good, as well as fuel filter. Oil pressure checks out. Gas is 1 week old. I haven't checked timing, but while it's running it soundshealthy.

I'm thinking it has to be something with the carburetors, but I have no idea where to start other than just taking them off again.

Anyone have any guidance?

Thanks,
Ryan

did you come up with any extra screws after you were done? if you diddnt you forgot to do something. an extra bolt is a sign of a job well done!

I had nearly the same exact problem. For me, the solenoid hose that went to the right side of the carbs (I hope you know what I'm talking about) had come off of the fitting it was supposed to be on. Poped it on, and the bike ran GREAT. Mind you, this was a new (used... low miles) engine that I'd just spent 685 bucks on, and I was panicking when it wouldn't run properly.

Sounds like a problem I just had a little while back. +2 on checking the solenoid. If there's the slightest leak in a hose or one is crimped, it'll run like CRAP.

+1 on double checking the ram air intake for air leaks or blockages. If your hoses check out fine, do a compression check.

By the way, what was the condition of your second gear? I have heard that the dogs wear down on the gear which allows the tranny to slip out of gear. Mine slips out occasionally which is enough to make me question, "is the problem me or the bike?"

Alright, I feel like an idiot and am still stumped. The carbs weren't seated all the way down. I took them off checked all the connections and everything looks good. I put them back on and not a damn thing changed. I tried to check the timing but my timing light isn't working. I don't have any extra bolts or anything. It runs healthy, but lacks power. Makes me lean towards timing.

The dogs on my second gear were worn pretty bad. I changed that, the shift star, and probably should have changed the shift fork. It was a little out of spec, but not bad. I asked myself the same question about me or bike, but it eventually got bad enough that I knew it wasnt me.
