Backfiring
When riding around my bike sometimes backfires, how bad is this for the bike and should I try and get the problem fixed immediately? Any idea whats causing this? Just replaced the battery and the plugs.
It's normal for any engine to backfire once in a while, especially when easing off the throttle. If it does it consistently and very often, then I would research more. Usually when you put on a performance exhaust, it doesn't muffle backfires as much as a stock one will.
I see. Yea it is normal. The poping or backfiring is caused by a lean mixture, it will not hurt anything though. I see it alot on race 4 stroke motocross bikes. At high rpms like will pop a little or backfire.
Its just lean popping. Not hurting a thing. If you notice it running hotter than normal, you may need to richen it up some.Other than that I would leave it alone. When you changed your pipe and filter you allowed more air thus causing a slightly leaner mixture.
Leaner meaning more air less fuel. They run better a little lean anyway.
