Default Anyone use Metzeler tires?

Getting to be time for some new rubber on the rear. Ran Diablos before, but I'm looking for a bit more tread life for long straight up hauls. I was wondering if any of you guys have used either the M3 or Z6 tires from Metzeler? All of the reviews for the M3 I find around the interwebs are track-based, and that's not what I need. I know the Z6 is a sport-touring tire; combined with the fact that the closest size they sell in that tire is a 160/70, I'm not sure how well it would work. Thoughts?

On my 84700SC, I ran through a few sets of Metzlers. The sport/touring versions
were great, at the time. I loved them, great stiction AND milage. Best rain tires,
I have ever had, period.

However, that was 15 years ago. I've just gotten back into the sport and my F3 came
with the Shinko's Raven tires. They were brand new, so I haven't needed to replace them, yet.

When I do, I'm definitely going to favor the Metzlers, again. But I can't give a 100%
thumbs-up, because I haven't run a recent pair, to assure they are still at the top of
the food chain. So this is a qualified, thumbs-up. ;-)

Hope this helps, Ern

Thanks for the info. Interestingly, I had also considered the Ravens, but everywhere I saw positive reviews it was guys on much larger bikes (1400+). So I kind of assumed that to get proper grip with them you needed a ton of weight. How have yours been treating you?

ive got the m3's on my f3, havent done too many miles on them so i cant say much about the tread life, but they grip well, even in the cold/wet
and now motorcyclesuperstore is having a big tire sale, can pick up a set for ~160

Yeah, and since I only need a rear right now, I think the M3 is the way I'll go. Thanks for the input guys.

My 96 had metzler sportec m1's on it when I bought it. They worked fine until I pushed them too hard too soon and they were muddy (i wasnt thinking) anyway metzler is owned by Pirelli (or Pirelli makes the tires for them can't remember exactly) so its got to be good. Ive used a few Pirelli rosso's and they stuck like glue but only lasted 3000 miles.

My s1k came stock with Metzlers on them. I haven't pushed them, feeling more comfortable with dual compound tires like Power Pures. On another forum with other BMW riders, most except the true track riders are reporting good grip wet or dry in most cases. The track riders do warn not to even consider taking them to anything beyond your 1st track day though.

We are talking mostly about real world use here, since Hyperblau did mention he's
looking at touring, not track. Most of the comments here seem to weigh positive on
the current gen being a good option for the 24/7er's. Looking good for Metz's in my future. ;-)

Yeah, this bike isn't gonna see a track any time soon so I think it'll be okay. Ordered a bit earlier than I need it because it was on sale; but when I do mount it I'll make a review thread to comment on the tread life so others can see.
