Default 98 cbr f3 starter button not cranking it

I have a 98 cbr and the the first problem is the starter button when i click it the bike does not crank over, battery is fine checked it with my meter and the kill switch is not off, the nuetral light and the kickstand light, if on, do dim when the button is pressed , which would lead me to think that it has a good connection? any ideas another thing is around the same time the bike started to bogg down when i would give it gas i could slowly throttle but not anything close to fast . and it was idleing high also ? Im thinking it could be the plugs? any tips on a tool to get them out easier than a 3/8 rachet extender and a plug socket?

Start with the switch. When its off and u crank the start button the lights will dim anyway. Try to bypass it first before you start digging into to starter problems. Then just get a voltmeter and see if the power actually goes to the starter when the start button is pressed.

hey man thanks for your help , but i just checked it out again with my meter and noticed that the battery voltage was around 11 so i jumped it and it fired right up. and i noticed that its not charging good . at idle its at 12 but if you give it any gas it goes down to 11 instead of going up to 14 like i believe it should? i did recently replace the r/r becvause when i got the bike it had melted a hole in, and i assumed that was because of a underbody light kit that i took off. so what you think? and what should i test next

Was the R/R you put in new, or used ? I'd go with a Suzuki R/R. They have much better heat sinks for cooling. Not too difficult to do. Search the forum, there is plenty of info relating to that.

Just do charging system test again. Not hard to do. Suzuki R/R should be fine. I also have Suzuki's one. Did you get the right R/R with 5 wires? Was it actually working fine after you swapped it?

well as soon as i put in the new r/r i also has a brand new battery but i did put about 300 miles on it before it stopped working right, so its possible that it was just running off the good bad but i m not sure. i did not check the charging voltage when i replaced the r/r so what year suzuki r/r do i get ? and does anyone have one that i could buy?
