98 CBR 600 F3 Help please
I'm hoping someone can help me trouble shoot my friends bike which used to be mine. The bike starts and runs great, always has, but today we were out riding and it just stalled on him. Pushed it off to the side, tried to start it no luck, so I tried the choke even though the bike was at operating temp, and it fired right up but of course idled high, and when you pushed the choke of, it would stall. Than, out of nowhere she fired right up and we rode for another good hour with no problems. Now, This spring I noticed that it wouldn't start with the choke on, but with it off it would fire right up, but if you put the choke on, it would stall it while it was cold, which is the opposite of what happened today when it stalled while it was at operating temp and would start with the choke on and stall when you turned it off.. weird I know, and I am the farthest thing from a bike mechanic. So could it be something electrical with the choke? Or is it something else I need to look at? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The choke is purely mechanical and simpley increases the amount of fuel in the mixture, if it will run ok with the choke on then somehow your getting leaned out, check for plugged up filters and try a carb clean
See how long it runs on choke. When my fuel pump quit working mine would run on choke but not off. Mine would run until all the bowls were empty. Just bypass the fuel pump and see if she runs, or just listen for a click at the fuel pump. It should click, if it is the fuel pump you can just buy the contacts cheap and fix yourself. Just google it. Mines a 95 600 F3. Easy fix.
