97 F3 wheelie RPMs
What rpms should I have to wheelie? The bike keeps like just jumping forward doesn't come up. Idk if I'm timing it correctly or letting the clutch out at the right rpms.. Kinda hard to tell by sound if im at 11-12k rpms
There are a ton of variables. Properly tuned carbs, clutch condition, sprocket set up, your weight, and how you sit on the bike, experience, chain slack, etc.. I can pull a small one @ around 6.5k. When you say telling by sound, do you not have a tach on your bike?
tbh I was kind of curious if it was because of stock sprocket.. The bike pulls I've gotten it up to 150mph before .. I just changed the plates so the clutch is fine.. I have a tach but like from tutorials and what I've read... They say....you want to clutch in quickly....get your RPM up.... and quickly drop it again and in theory the wheels should be able to come up and you balance the wheelie w your brake etc... But how am I supposed see my RPM if i have to do this action quickly and watch the road and myself and the bike at the same time so i don't fly backwards ahaha
Practice, that's how you get there. Wheelies are fun, no doubt about it. But doing one on a dirt bike and a sport bike are entirely different animals. On my off-road bikes, I'd dump the clutch all the time. On my CBR, not so much.

Sorry if you know this already, but there are two ways to wheelie, power wheelie and clutch dump. Power wheelie comes from just going WOT in a low gear. Clutch dump is where you pull in the clutch, grab a handful of throttle, then dump the clutch. The stored energy in the flywheel will bring up the front.
My bike (97) will power wheelie in first. Pretty much above 7k rpm. I modulate the throttle to keep the front tire low. I've never clutch dumped because I like two on the ground when on the street. But I'm a wuss lol. Apparently there is a wheelie gene-I don't have it but my son does lol.
On the dirt bike, the clutch dump is a required skill to get over sharp inclines, but I'm going much slower at these points and therefore I'm not scared to try it. It's kinda fun actually!
Oh yeah, whatever you do, cover the back brake....it will save your *** if you get too far up.

I have been getting it up in first.. someone was telling me to I need to change my sprocket and go one down in the front and two up in the back I believe... Does anyone have a link for these sprockets??
