Default 96f3 surging at highway speeds...

Hi there!
Bike was running great and tonight took it for a ride and noticed a surging/bogging at highway speeds. As if it was losing power for a split second and then it gets it.
Bike has been meticulously maintained.

Grateful for any advice,
Dennis

clogged fuel filter or bad gas. Im willing to bet you run some HEAT or Seafoam it will clear up

^Probably bad gas. Sounds like a victim of ethanol separation stumble.
I agree, some Seafoam and top it off from a different pump.
Hopefully that's it.

I put in Berryman B12 today and topped at a different gas station.

I hear that it could take 2 tanks to remedy the problem.

Well I had the spark plugs replaced and it got a little better for a while but this morning on the highway I thought it was going to stop running; the surging was really bad.

Are you using ethanol based fuel? E10 or E15 maybe? That's not so bueno on older bikes. I would drain the entire fuel system and give it a once over. Ethanol eats away at rubber pretty aggressively unless you upgrade your hoses/gaskets/o-rings to newer ethanol resistant stuff.

I personally try to avoid ethanol at all costs in all of my vehicles. I just can't bring myself to trust fuel made from something that I eat...

I use premium from Shell or Chevron; do they contain ethanol?

The gas companies don't make the determination, it's left to the individual gas station to choose whether they sell ethanol gas, or "pure gas." One Shell station might sell ethanol and another might sell pure. You'll just have to search your area for a pure gas station. From my experience the ones that tend to sell pure gas are the older stations in town that aren't in large shopping centers or directly off of major highways.
