"New" engine into the bike I'm keeping, runs great, have taken it for a few shakedown runs already. Need to get it licensed, install mirrors and rear indicators, new tires, then I can put some miles on it to see if there are any bugs to work out before 1st track day. Still need to sort out the final paint scheme, but it's getting there.
looking good, must be a bit of a relief after all that hard work!
Definitely feels good to be at this stage, mostly cosmetic from this point out. I've completed reassembling the donor bike and have temporarily installed F2 fairings. It's ready to go to a new owner, and I can get back to work on primary project bike.
Donor bike sold, time to clean the garage to make space to wrap this project up, and might need room for another project that just might arrive tomorrow...
Bearings and seals appear to be fine. Decided to spray the wheels white as a tribute to previous bikes and have new rubber mounted. Now to get fork seals swapped, rear lights sorted out, paint the tank inverse colors and go for a ride.
I've been neglecting the F3 for a bit, getting back on track. Fork seals completed, although not without some fun along the way...
Old forks broken down...
Was impossible to get the fork tubes out of the lowers, even took them to the shop to see if the "pros" could do it, no luck. Heat, penetrating oil, nothing worked. Final option was to cut the lowers in half to save the fork tubes...
All cleaned up and ready for reassembly
And, done. The right tools are nice to have, makes the job so much easier.
