Well I got my stand but last night and started stripping the bike down to look into my no start situation. I'm going to start with the regular maintenance stuff like plugs, oil change, air filter, battery, carb Cleaning. It turns over and occasionally back fires but won't fire up. This is where I got to today.

I got it running. The fuel pump only runs when I jump the terminals from the fuel shut off relay. I tried a second relay still no go. If I jump it everything works and the bike starts. Any ideas?

If you jumped it then it worked, then i would buy a new fuel pump relay. Problem solved. The other relay may of been bad also! Just a thought.

Common problem on the f3 s is the fuel pump contacts go out, voltage regulator, and bad cam chain tentioners just to name a few.

I am going to order a new relay. I cant seem to find a "NEW" one locally. While I wait I'm going to take the carbs out and clean them properly. And change the fuel filter as well. While i have it all apart, does the solenoid ETC. that is attached to the air box need any maintenance?

a good carb cleaning never hurts, but that solenoid valve shouldnt need any maintenance, and if it does go out or anything you can just bypass it.

also wouldnt hurt to make sure the contacts on the fuel pump are clean.

mine went out and i cleaned the contacts and it workd for another couple months.

theres a sticky on this forum on how to rebuild the pump for about $40

I saw the sticky. I may order contacts also. The pump seems to work as long as I bypass the relay. Is the fuel pump supposed to run the entire time the bike is running or does the ECU cycle it on and off? I checked he wires going to the relay and there is 12 volts to 2 of them and the third shows continuity to the fuel pump wire. Does this sound right to you guys ?

im not positive but i believe it goes off by pressure....

my carbs were empty and it ran until they filld up then it shut off then it seemd to feed a lot slower when ideling versus when i was giving it throttle.
