Default 95/96 - 97/98 Fairing differences

Alright, this is the last thtread I make about aftermarket fairings, I swear lol.

So, I was all ready to order new china fairings for my bike, then I realized the Auctmarts fairings are for the 97/98 models, and I have a 96. I found a thread on this forum where some people mentioned the tail piece is different from in 97 from what it is in 96.

Would 97 fairings work on my bike, or would I have to convert some stuff? If so, how would I go about doing that, and how difficult/expensive would it be?

To complicate things further, I looked at NiceCycle's site, and their fairings are listed as being for the 95-98 years. So are they wrong or does it just not really matter?

97-98 fairings will work, youll just need a taillight and seat from a 97-98 model.
otherwise the fairings bolt right on.,

You will need a seat, taillight, and a taillight bracket then it should just bolt on. If you buy the aftermarket pieces they will need some work to make them fit together so be careful with them. I did the swap on my 96 and I love the look, it looks more like a newer bike with the sharp points.

Thanks for the info.

I took a brief look around and saw two sites selling seats for about $200... that's insane...

I'll look into how much a new tail light and bracket will cost, probably something equally ridiculous. Apparently I only actually need the tail light and bracket to make it work, replacing the seat is not necessary but it looks a bit funky if you don't. So I heard anyway.

If you guys have any ideas of where I might be able to find any of this stuff, let me know. Preferably at a reasonable price.

yes you dont Need the seat, but it would look weird with the 95-96 seat

as for getting the parts, just browse ebay, you should be able to get a seat and tail light for < $75

I found this: Honda 97 98 CBR600F3 Double Seat Assy 77200 Mal A00 Kobe Bryant Edition Lakers | eBay

It's the wrong color, but the only seat I can find on eBay at the moment. Could I just get a seat cover to replace the colors or is a seat cover as cheesy a part as a tank cover?

That seat is off a f2, not even the same model much less year. Thanks for trying though.

I found some aftermarket tailights on eBay for $40, I think they're from China though. No luck on finding a tailight bracket so far.

This is a diagram of a 97 f3 rear fender. http://www.arcticcatpartshouse.com/o...6c/rear-fender

I think the tailight bracket is number 20, listed as Bracket, Number Plate.

Can anyone confirm?

i watched on ebay for a seat for a few weeks....they typically sell for almost $100 shipped with no rips....i got lucky and got mine for about $40 shipped with no tears.

also sucks but you also need to type in each year different...do a search for "98 f3 seat" then "1998 f3 seat" and same with 97. youlle get different listings
also on ebay pay attention to the pic...ive seen 95-96 seats posted as a 97-98 but you can see the difference by looking at the front of the seat.
