Default '95 600F3 performance help

my brother has a '95 600F3 and it has a couple extra air filter. we were wondering if these extra filters can be taken off. it also has a lil air pump and some electronics on the carbs. would it be better to put a jet kit in it on find a good set of carbs off of a F2 with no electronics. i ride a '94 600F2 and it runs a bunch better than my brothers F3. my bike starts pulling about 5000 rpm and his is more like 8500/9000 rpm before it starts pulling good. just wondering what can be done to help the performance. thanks Joe

I dont think the carbs are the same from F2 to F3. Try finding another set from an F3.

F2 and F3 carbs are different enough not to bother with a swap.

The 'extra' stuff your seeing can infact be illiminated. I did this a couple months ago. Bike runs better than ever.

Here we go... a quick rundown.

Remove left side fairings, seat, and fuel tank. Look at the solenoid in the middle, behind the carbs. It has 3 hoses going to it. One hose goes to a small filter towards the left, then a long hose up to the front of the bike. Remove the hose, filter, long hose, and any hoses you can reach under the front fairings... meaning the hoses and hose splitter. The 2 remaining hoses, on the solenois, will be joined together in a moment. Unplug the electrical connector on the solenoid, remove the last 2 hoses, and remove the solenoid. Take one of the plastic connectors from the long hose you removed earlier, and join those last 2 hoses together. Thats the basics. If you wanna get real froggy with it, you can remove the front fairings, and take out the relay for the system up there, and if you really get bored (I did), you can even carefully pull all the wiring for the circuit out of the wiring harness.

This factory setup controls the carbs up to 12 mph. Something of a power limiter from what I understand. Like I said, I did it and my bike runs great.

thanks we will remove it. my other question would be what is the electronic thing on the carbs? is that a throttle positioning switch. we unplugged it and rev it up and then plugged it back in and it picks up 5 or 600 rpms. that is why we were looking at the F2 carbs because they dont have this. thanks again for the help.
