Default 4th cylinder running rich

Alright so on my 98 F3 I was taking a nice ride through the canyon. Well about midway through the ride I notice I have a cylinder misfire. I also notice a lack of power and response. I get her home and tear her apart and I notice I'm running extremely rich on cylinder 4. Thinking plug first I change that. It works for a bit and then is saturated again.

The carbs are out and all seem fine and within spec. Ever since I've gotten the bike I've never had the carbs synced but I have had them out numerous times. So I purchased a carbtune pro so I can. But my question is will syncing the carb effect how rich one cylinder is running?

Yes it can change the air/fuel ratio. Also sheck and see if you have an air leak at any connections for that cylinder, more air will provoke a rich condition to where it can flood itself out. If you have the carbs out check to see that your float is not stuck.

Thats good to know. When I tore the carbs out I checked the float and needle and there wasn't any binding at all so thats good. I'll just have to wait and update as I get stuff in.

Since you said you have pulled the carbs i would suggest an air leak. The first time i pulled my carbs i didn't get them bck on just right and the bike ran like crap from an air leak. Check the boot that clamps the carbs to the block make sure those screws are snug. Double check all hoses are connected and have a free flowing route.

without vacuum from the engine the Venturi effect doesn't take place how it should. Vacuum leak and a Sync would be your friend

+2 for Utter.
You're describing a textbook carburetor sync issue (though a severe one). A poor seal is also possible, and since it's on an end cylinder, I bet you put them on crooked. You can eyeball that wthout having to take anything apart (aside from the fairings).

Awesome guys thanks a bunch I'll keep you informed when I get the carbtune in and give her a syncing. I'll keep an eye out for any vacuum leaks and such also.

Update: So I got the carbtune in today and I was able to sync my carbs. It seems that the 4th cylinder was running 4 cmHg less then cylinder 3. So after getting that up into range she seems to be running very well. I also double checked for any vacuum leaks before I put it all back together and it seems to be all in order. Thanks everyone!
