1998 f3 vs. 2003 rr
i got some questions about racing.
who would win in a case where the F3 has a 120 pound rider vs a 200+ rider with a 2xxx gsxr/r6/cbr?
Does weight make much of a difference?
Both are equal riders.
And regarding shifting during racing, are you supposed to get it near the limit b4 shifting up to get the most speed out of your bike? so far i have not been crazy enough to shift when i am revving that hard but i assume that to go faster quicker you would need to shift when you are in the high revs. I know there is a sweet spot and as you get better you can hear exactly when to shift up.
btw i cannot believe that a F3 1996-1998 could beat one of the newer bikes! thats crazy, you guys must be good riders

I would put money on the F3 to win just because you have 80lbs. less of weight. The bikes only weight around 400 with no rider, so really your bike would weight 520 and your opponent 600. When i raced the RR i shifted around 12grand, and he was taching out in every gear. Like i always say Its old but yes, its still fast. Try it out and see. Let us know what your results are. My bike was at 145mph at 11 to 11.5rpms. She still wanted more to.

did you start faster? Im interested in the initial launch. who got ahead first? and how much faster? Thanks!
apparently fuel injected are supposed to have a better throttle response but carbs are WAYYYYYY easier to mod and tune. oh my bike is built cams gp exhaust "race bike" (more fun on the country road twisties), and as soon as they see the front lift a tad from wrenchin on the throttle its over lol

A few CBR600 horsepower results from cycleworld magazine just to get an idea of which Honda is packing more heat than another.
From this list you don't want to run a newer 600RR just because they have at least 20 ponies on ya, so this guy should smoke you unless he is a dweeb.
CBR600 F3-87.2hp 1998
CBR600F4 94.8 2000
CBR600F4i 97.3 hp 2001
CBR600RR 107.2 hp 2003
CBR600RR 105.6 hp 2006
CBR600 F4i 97.3 2006
I am sure you all know the F3 makes most of it's power on the upper end of the rev range so if your going to run someone get the rev's up and kick their ***!
And just because someone is riding a newer CBR600 does not mean the guy knows how to ride his bike correctly to get the most power out of it, just watch out for cops and cars when running other bikes...

Here is my opinion from someone who owns both an F3 and a new RR.
Now, I love the F3, I am a huge F3 fan and bought mine new in 1998 and still have it today ... after my old F2 the F3 felt like a 750 bike in comparison with it's remapped ignition timing, direct air induction system and higher compression ratio ..I have the later 1998 F3 .. the 97/98 F3s were noticeably stronger throughout the rev range than the earlier F3s due to some more tweeks with the ignition and an upgraded ram air system. I also like the way my F3 pulls from nowhere, it's smooth and fast ....
I have now also bought a new 600RR and comparing the two is like night and day ... firstly the moment I sat on the RR it felt MUCH lighter, more like a 500 in comparison and when I ride it, it is much quicker and more responsive everywhere!!
The moment I rode off down my lane it squirted down the road more like a litre bike than a 600 ... I believe these later 2007-2009 600RRs are much improved over the early 2003/4 models which suffered a lack of low and mid range power. These new ones though are torque monsters by comparison.
The bike is very responsive from just 3,000 rpm it shoots off down the road, snapping the throttle open at just 5,000rpm produces a very pleasing surge forward and by 6,000 rpm the power is just flooding in real fast.
The handling is noticeably quicker and easier, it's so easy to turn it's almost as if it does it by thought control and the brakes are a dream, this bike goes faster, is more responsive everywhere, steers quicker and stops miles quicker than my F3.
This is from someone who has both and still loves my old F3 to death, non of this means the F3 is bad ..it's just the later 600RR is very, very good!!
