Default 180 Rear Tire...

anyone running one? 180/55/ar17 is what i am thinking. if i could find a 190/60/zr17 i wouldnt mind the taller profile in order to drop a couple RMP at cruise. not enough to make a difference but it would still be a few.

any ideas are welcome. i like dunlop and michellin tires, but am open to anybrand. this tire will be paid for by an insurance company so cost isnt too important.

I'm running Dunlop Q2....180/55/17.... very responsive when cornering...grips well...ridden on light rain and were amazed...shop around online...I purchase mine on sale during 4th of July weeken...cheaper than EBay like $120 (no tax) shipped for the rear...online websites always offer one day sales during holidays so keep eyes open for specials deal coming around during holidays...it's best time to buy. I have always select one purchase for each holiday...Next holiday is tks giving...I don't think they have any special for holloween?

What rim width is an F3? You'll need a 5.5" to run a 180 I think and a 6" for a 190

From old posts I think the F3 has a 5" rear rim which might not work well with a 180. You could end up messing up the handling. Having a wider tyre isn't always an improvement.

You cant fit a 190 on there, a 180 is pushing it in my opinion. Your going to run through the center tread on that tire must faster that a 170 or 160 like honda calls for. It will look cooler, wont improve your handling and wont last as long.

i would recommend a shinko 170 rear, as it is as big as many 180's with the profile to fit the rim of of a 5".

if you want 180+, i would recommend a f4 rim/swing swap

which shinko? i have the 010, its amazing.

a lot of SV650 guys put an f3 rim on their rears SO they can run a 180, and i've ridden one with a 180 on an f3 rim, it rides pretty damned good.

i've also had a 160 on my f3, and it was nice too. i just don't think there's much difference for street duty. and i'm surprised you said the shops around you had 160's in stock, no shops in my area have them, only 180's and up

I ran the 160 and 180 with no clearance issues on my f3, liked them both. If I were to do it again, I would prob stick with the 160 though.
