Default 180 rear on F3: Issue

just picked up the bike other day and didnt notice this when first viewing the bike. the rear is a 180 Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier. on the chain side the tire is gouged in all around the outside edge. it is very close to the chain.. is this from the chain? read that others have put the 180 on the F2-F3. is this tire just made different or did something just get screwed up when this thing was put on..
any concerns here, chain/sprockets replaced awhile after this tire was put on. pic below of both sides.

yea thats not right. the stock f3 size is a 160. I personally have a 170 on mine. I am going to go back to the 160 when its time for a new tire. I have seen 180s on f3s but I do not know what went into making it work right.

The rim on the F3's are made for a 160 size tire......Putting a larger tire doesn't help ALL.....180 is the wrong size.....Put a 160....

Why worry, it looks like its on its way to being a 170ish anyway, just kidding, I reckon that's just dangerous.

That tire is toast. I wouldn't trust something that looked like that on a car. It'd be 10 mph to the nearest tire shop if I saw that on my car. On my bike, I'd seriously consider taking it off the bike and driving it to a shop

10 mph to the nearest shop is over reacting, the shoulder of the tire has been worn down, but not to the point where is seems un ridable or dangerous. Others have put on a 180 just fine with no problems or mods to the chain or swingarm. My buddies F3 has a 180 on it with no problems except for affecting cornering capabilities.

Since you just got the bike i would check the chain slack and make sure there is no play in the chain .

I've learned not to play with tires from a really bad accident in a car. Rolled 7 times (ok, maybe 120+ wasn't smart either). Also my job requires biweekly inspections of our work vehicles. If a sup came out and saw that tire on one of our vans, the van would be declare out of service until replaced.

Personal taste but I'd replace it. Plus check why it was rubbing like that in the first place.

I ran 180's on my F3 all the time with no problem, granted the chain was very close but it never rubbed.

I agree to replace it, but the wear it not all the bad unless the rider were to take a really tight turn laying knee then the tire would give out on grip due to the rolled edge. Either the chain is getting in the way cause it is loose or the swingarm chain guide is messed up.

your chain is or was hitting the tire at some point...take a look at the rub pattern...shaped just like the links on the chain...i have a 180 on my f3 and don't have any problems at all...i'd get that chain checked out...tire may be slightly out of alignment
