Default 180 on a 5 inch wheel?

I got a good deal on a 5 inch wide rear for my F2, have had a hard time finding a 5.5. Race rubber is so much easier to get a 180 than a 170 called for on a F3 5 inch wheel. Any feedback?

THANKX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can put a 180 on that rim, a lot of folks here on the forum has done it, but it's not really recommended.

The profile of the tire will change and possible clearance problems. My 96 had a 180/55 on it when I got it but I went to the stock 160/60 and it "looked" just as good and handled MUCH better. Just my 2 cents.

The techs will tell you that a 190 fits only on a 6" and a 180 on a 5.5" and if you cram a 180 on a 5" it'll raise the ride height about 1/4" in the middle but stay the same on the sides. But if you look at a pilot power next to a dunlop or bridgestone of the same size you'll see it's at least 1/4" to 3/8" taller in the middle. That gives it a great turn in ... at least that was my experience.

3.5'' -140mm, 4'' -150mm, 4.5'' -160mm, 5" -170mm, 5.5'' -180mm, 6'' -190mm

Many say this it's okay to go one size down and one size up. 180mm is fine on the 5'' (one size up)

Honda chose to put a 160mm (one size down) on the 5'' f3 rim and also on the 4.5'' f2 rim (which is the right size for it)
