Default 120/70 front and 180/55 rear?

the only good deals i can find on the michelin pilot powers are for a 120/70 front and 180/55 rear as a set. will these work on my F3? if not, anyone know where i can find the best deal on pilot powers for the F3?

dude. the rear is an insane size for that rim. are sure that it will clear the swingarm? i'm sure that it wont clear the rear fender. how much grip do you need?

Do not go to those sizes!

It will affect the handling of your bike in a very negative way. The steering will be laborious and require a lot more muscle to countersteer. Yeah, it may look cool but it will only add poser value.

I have those same tire sizes on my 98 f3, and it clears no problem. I havent had any problems with the handling at all. A lot of people think that a 170 rear tire wont fit, but it fits on the stock rim no problem.

I've got 170's on my rear and they work fine- dont go 180 tho, I highly doubt it'll fit!

You're not pushing your bike hard enough....do a comparison at the track, its quite noticeable.

it's not really like i'm goin for poser value, or the biggest rear tire i can get, or anything like that. it's just that i found a package deal for those sizes front and rear for $214 for the Michelin Pilot Powers and i thought that was a pretty damn good deal. i can't find anything near that if i go with the stock sizes, so i was just wondering.. i mean i definitely don't want to SIGNIFICANTLY affect my handling, as i do enjoy the twisties, but i probably won't get into hardcore racing until i upgrade to a 929, so will it make a big deal if i'm not really RACING it, just some spirited drives in the hills occassionally? also, aside from the widths, i was curious about the slightly different aspect ratios, anyone know if those are ok? thanks in advance for any additional info...

You aren't looking in the right places. $211:

Not trying to come down on you here but....you're going to start racing in a Superbike class. It sound like you don't even ride track yet (correct me if I'm wrong) so nless you're a natural at riding the track, that's asking a lot of yourself.

problem solved, i ordered the tires just now.. thanks for the link. and as far as the 929, of course i'll get out on the track with the F3 first, but i won't be as serious about my reults so much as the practice i'm getting until i get the 929. either way, i ordered a 120/60ZR17 and a 170/60ZR17 based upon what everyone here had to say.. thanks for the help!

If you plan on doing track with your F3 (which it sounds like , you're much better off with the 160! (Believe me, I've already gone this route) Bigger is not necessarily better! [I'm not trying to sound condescending here] Even though the consensus here is saying to get the 170, I think you're being misled by a people who aren't really pushing their bikes (let alone track expeience - which is what you're looking to do).

As far as the whole racing thing, you've missed my point. Even experienced trackday riders don't start racing in the Superbike class. Trackdays and racing are completely different animals.
