Plugged the tire this morning after I got to ride to work in the rain. for now - my commuting is 6 miles each way in normal traffic. I'm not worried bout the plug at this point- but I do have a new tire on the way.

I used my mountainbike CO2 inflator to get the tire back up to pressure. I was seriously impressed with how well it did. Before I got the plug in and sealed up - the tire dropped to about 26psi. I used (3) 16gram CO2 cartridges thinking they weren't doing much. I checked the pressure and it was at 45psi. I was impressed cause I know it takes 2 to get a mountainbike tire up to pressure from dead flat, wasn't expecting a 20psi boost from 3 cartridges.

thanks guys - got the truck back Thurs afternoon, and that evening took a good look at the balljoint problem I knew had been lingering on the pass. side for a while.

Lemme say this - don't procrastinate on required maintenance!!! Damn - I've cost myself more money that way. Balljoint had totally collapsed, and the swivel portion had broken through the top allowing my steering knuckle to ride directly on the a-arm.

Had to pull the whole front suspension out on that side and source a new steering knuckle on a Friday. Luckily a local U-pull-it place had one on a wreck that mercifully was only hanging by the upper balljoint - so I didn't have to do a teardown in the salvage yard. $24 and a new upper and lower balljoint and I'm back in business.

If you installed the type of plug that you fold in half and shove into the hole from the outside, you should pull it out and use a proper plug patch that is installed from the inside of the tire.

Yeah - planning on that - but new tire is in the back seat of the truck, going to get it mounted tomorrow - good time to touch up all the chips on the rim.

I'm keeping the punctured tire, just in case.
