Exclamation Why???

I blew a rod in my bike. Cold morning, started it up and let it worm up for like 15 minutes. I rode down the road and came to a stop. All I hear is like a piece of metal bouncing around and it is running like ****. I got home and drained the oil, I saw little pieces of metal in the oil so I took the oil pan off and there it was several big pieces from the push rod of the piston. I am going to drop the motor and either replace the whole motor or the piston (havent decided yet). I just want to why it happened so I dont go through this again.

Take a picture of the pieces you found in the oil pan, and a view of the crankshaft from the under side of the motor.

I find it hard to believe that the connecting rod blew apart on a stock motor, but you may be a first!
