Where do you Shift?

Where do you Shift?
My question is this, what rpm do you guys shift at during daily driving/riding?
I find myself shifting at about 4-5k before it starts sounding angry. But i'm a new rider and would like to know the optimum shift point to get best 'momentum' and fuel mileage from the bike.
I often find that i'll be at about 5grand in one gear and then hop up to the next and have to shift down to keep it in the powerband when going on a slight uphill or something... i know i'm a noob. [sm=tongue.gif]
If you don't ride an F2, please refrain from posting,[sm=thanx.gif]

RE: Where do you Shift?
Well, according to page 60 of the Owner's Manual
[hr]SHIFTING
Review Motorcycle Safety (pages 1 - 10) before you ride.
Proper shifting will provide better fuel economy. When changing gears under normal conditions, use these recommended shift points:
Shifting Up:
[blockquote]From 1st to 2nd: 9 mph (15 km/h)
From 2nd to 3rd: 16 mph (25 km/h)
From 3rd to 4th: 22 mph (35 km/h)
From 4th to 5th: 28 mph (45 km/h)
From 5th to 6th: 34 mph (55 km/h)
[/blockquote]Shifting Down:
[blockquote]From 6th to 5th: 25 mph (40 km/h)
From 5th to 4th: 19 mph (30 km/h)
From 4th to 3rd: 12 mph (20 km/h)
[/blockquote]Disengage the clutch when speed drops below 9 mph (15 km/h), when engine roughness is evident, or when engine stall is imminent; shift down to 1st gear for acceleration.
[hr]So, what is the average shifting pattern of a typical CBR owner?
Probably:
From 1st to 2nd: 45 mph
From 2nd to 3rd: 75 mph
From 3rd to 4th: 95 mph
From 4th to 5th: 120 mph
From 5th to 6th: 150 mph

RE: Where do you Shift?
I was wondering this myself. I was shifting at like 4k or above, then I actually read the manual. Once I get going, I ride in the gear shown in the manual. I tried what the manual suggested for this last tank and got lower mileage, so I'm going back to thee 4k shift point. I figure my fat *** needs the bike to produce a bit more rpms to keep me going.
No way in hell I would shift from 6th to 5th at 25 though. I usually do that at about 35. Anything lower for me and the bike wants to start bucking. (maybe I should getthe carbs looked at)
