what should I look for?
So I'm here because I need info on the F2's. Shocking, I know.
Here's my story-I've got a line on a '91 CBR600F2 for $500. The frame's been stripped to get cleaned up and painted, but afterwards, the guy lost interest and discovered 4x4's (first generation toyota's are my first automotive love), so he's sellin it in a couple boxes.
I'm not worried about the basic mechanics of putting it back together, with a shop manual, my tool collection, and enough herbal enhancement, I'm sure I can get 'er done....but there are a few nagging questions.
Are there any well known problem area's or parts with these bikes, stuff I should replace while I have it apart? Or worse yet, single use parts that I am going to have to replace like crush sleeves, plastic bushings, etc?
Basically any useful hints/tips/tricks for workin on and maintaining one of these bikes is what I'm after.
Any other cool stuff to do with F2's would be appreciated too.
I don't have my bike liscence anymore, so there'll be a waiting period between buying/assembling the bike and actually riding it that will allow me to accumulate the appropriate gear. Somehow I don't think my dirtbike helmet will suffice, even if it is DOT approved.
Another question, probably better suited to the gear forum, but since I'm askin I'll just bundle 'em all together....
I like metal, but I also like not having my brains splattered across the pavement, so what's the story on those "rockhard" helmets...I'd like to rock a Slayer helmet, but they seem kinda low in price, which to me reflects some drop in quality...They seem to be on par price wise with a Bell helmets, which from my bicycle days I still see as a solid brand, but compared to say an Arai the price is peanuts.
thanks for any answers.
