Default What kind of fuel is best for the F2?

Here in sweden we got 3 types of unleaded fuels. There's 95, 98 and 99 (shell v-power) octane.

Which one would be best for the F2?

The F2 can handle all of them without problem.

I run with 99 octane every now and then. It does give a small performance boost,
but the difference isn't massive, so if you're on a budget i would stick with the 95.

The handbook says 95 though.

When running lower octane with my bike I used to notice a major performance difference. Now that I'm jetted a bit better I'd like to try and see how things go.

Tried 92 once, but that was utter rubbish.

(Heh...tried 86 once too, but that was on my car. Pointless. The car had no power whatsoever.)

This is just my .02 so no hate letters!! At the risk of starting yet another "octane is relevant to performance" argument (I've been involved with them on 4 bike forums and 2 car forums). Octane has nothing to do with performance of your bike (ducks behind desk). I've tested fuels til I'm blue in the face at the dragstrip. Octane is relevant to how the fuel burns. If your engine is pinging, switching to higher octane will stop it. If your FI car is running like crap on low octane, it's because it's trying to pre-ignite (ping) and knock sensors are backing your timing off to compensate (hence the crappy running). I've ran same numbers at strip on 87 and 93. To get performance out of your fuel, you need to look for oxygenated fuels (VP U4, U2, U4.2, etc.). Then if you re-jet/map for extra oxygen in the fuel, you will see power increase. They also help in high heat/humidity conditions when engine starves for air and runs fat on pump gas. I'm no engineer, don't claim to be. The findings I've stated I've come up with on my own through actual experience and testing. I'm not saying they are fact and what you say is wrong...Like I said, just my opinion. I totally respect everyone's opinion whether I agree with it or not. Okay, ya'll can throw eggs at my bike now LOL.

Your right, except pinging is a DRASTIC case of pre-ignition. There's a whole slew of time to be concerned about before then.

As long as it's not pinging, it's all good. Meanest fuel I ever tried was the VP U4. If you tuned for the extra oxygen, it was hard to beat. And it was only 91 Octane. They made some better stuff (mr9 I believe) but 100 bucks for 5 gallon was a bit much LOL.

Don't waste your time running a higher octane than the manual recommends unless the engine has been jetted /tuned for whatever octane you want to run. This of course involves a dyno or at the bare minimum a wideband o2 and a lot different conditions.

Everyone who tells you it'll give a small performance boost say this from the seat-of-the-pants dyno which definitely cannot differentiate between a few horsepower.

If you want cold hard facts, get on a dyno.

Don't forget that if whatever gas pump you're using only has one hose/nozzle, when you hit 93, or whatever, and the previous guy was pumping 87, you're going to get a bunch of 87 at first.

SAVE MONEY AND MAKE MORE POWER
