RE: What doyou idle at?
The maintenance manual, for purpose of adjusting the carbs gives a starting point of 1200 RPM plus or minus 100. I did the adjustment (but think it's still off).
When choke is on, it usually starts the idle at about 1500, but quickly starts to shoot up to about 3000 RPM. I close the choke a little bit to bring it back down to about 1500-2000 range for a couple minutes then close it completely.

Someone can correct me if Im wrong, but i believe the F4 and F4i being newer are engineered to run better at the lower idle RPM.Our generation is supposed to run higher.
I think 800-900 is on the low side for F4i's?

RE: What doyou idle at?
When I got my bike it was at 1500 and I was havinga hard time keeping it running at times. Seafoam didn't help, but Lucas fuel treatment (the small bottle) dumped in to the tank on two or three occasions over the summer REALLY helped. I've been able to turn my idle speed way down, don't have problems stalling, and it is now at about 1300 give or take 100. You can really tell the difference in those few hundred RPMs.
