what brand are F2 carbs???

RE: what brand are F2 carbs???
Just to correct some info, I have been dealing with carb tuning issues with the F2 for the past month[:'(]I thought I had it fixed (wife has been riding it for the past month) but I took it for a ride yesterday (2 hrs) and found out bike has an awful rich condition at 11,500rpms to red line. So I pulled the carbs AGAIN this morning and on reading the side found out they are NOT Mikuni carbs. They areKeihin VP 34mm. I have also picked up another set of stock carbs off a 94 F2, justtook the bowls off and they have Keihin #135 main jets with a little star by the #.

RE: what brand are F2 carbs???
If this is correct that would explain why the Dynojet kit has a #126 main jet, that matches the Keihin stock main jet. I currently have been running #135 mikuni main jets, that would explain my crazy rich condition. Looking at the Keihin main jet it looks more like a dynojet in design then a mikuni.
Dynojets numbers are simply the hole diameter. A 140DJ main has a 1.40mm (0.055") diameter hole in it at the threaded end. A Mikuni 140 has a 140 cc's of fuel flow per minute. I don't know where the Keihin scale comes from.

RE: what brand are F2 carbs???
i'm gonna double check mine.. i may be mixing up the snowmobile brand and the bikes.. but the manual does say mikuni??? now that i think of it i think mine is a kehin on my bike though (regardless of what the manual says)
i know snowmobile manufacturer will use 2 different brand in the same year.. i have 2 75-arctic cat panteras and one does have a kehin and one hasa mikuni ( the manual shows both brands)

RE: what brand are F2 carbs???
This is thefourth time I have had the carbs off and only by chance did I figure they were Keihin, I just thought they were Mikuni even before I asked and so when I didn't see Mikuni stamped on the carbs I didn't think to look for another name.I actually remember now at an earlier time looking right at the Keihin stamped on the side and saying "No mikuni stamp hear just something about Japan."

RE: what brand are F2 carbs???
the "star" by the number on a jet if you look closely is a "K" ... off the keihin logo on your float bowl.
The Keihin number isthe diameter...and runs more closely to that actual measurement than dynojet does...if you convert .089 inches its 2.261 mm.
Genuine Mikuni jets have a square with a smaller square in the corner.
Could be a plugged air jet or too big of a main....
is the air box modified in any way?
